Give research the means to become useful.
A contribution to independent research can enable a measurement, a proof, a comparison, or a result that another person can reproduce. IAOM is a Michigan nonprofit corporation, recognized by the IRS as tax-exempt under Section 501(c)(3), classified as a private operating foundation, and organized as a Focused Research Organization (FRO). What you give becomes running infrastructure in a named program, and what that program produces is published with its evidence. Your support does not purchase a favourable result; it helps make a question answerable, and its answer useful to others.
With thanks to those already making the work possible. Meet our sponsors →
How it works
From a contribution to a result anyone can check
- 1
Your contribution
Equipment, data, funding or a research partnership.
- 2
Infrastructure
It becomes compute, instruments or field sensors in a running program.
- 3
Mathematical model
The question is stated precisely, as mathematics a machine can read.
- 4
Machine-checked
The result is proved or refuted by a proof kernel, not by reputation.
- 5
Public result
Published with its evidence, so anyone can re-check it without asking us.
Ways to give
Four ways in
Support independent research
Flexible funding pays for research time, validation, maintenance and publication: the work that does not fit a narrowly restricted gift.
Enable a defined experiment
A scoped project names its question, instruments, planned outputs and how it will be validated. You sponsor the test, not a predetermined result.
Offer equipment or access
Serviceable hardware, instruments, compute time, software or data access can remove a specific bottleneck. Tell us what you have; we will say where it would run, or plainly if it would not fit.
Partner on research
Bring a question, a dataset, a field site, or expertise. The fields marked “seeking partners” exist on this site so that a partner can start them.
Equipment & research needs
What the work runs on
IAOM develops mathematical and computational methods for formal verification, trustworthy intelligent systems, fundamental science and reproducible experimental research, and the same methods reach across computing, electronics, physics, quantum technologies, energy, industrial automation, transportation, agriculture, environmental monitoring and biomedical instrumentation. We welcome scientific, industrial, engineering and computing equipment that can advance that work, and we deploy it responsibly.
New, used, surplus, retired, refurbished or serviceable: incomplete systems, spare components, development kits, research instruments and whole lots are all welcome for review. So are equipment loans, facility access, compute credits, technical services, and nonprofit or below-market pricing when a donation is not practical. The list below is illustrative rather than exhaustive. Equipment need not appear by name to be considered, and an unusual, older or highly specialised instrument can be exactly right for a defined experiment.

Specifications and quantity
Requirements vary by experiment, so there is no single minimum specification. Specifications above are examples of useful capability, not acceptance thresholds.
Computing
Modern multicore systems; 32 GB or more RAM in workstations and 128 GB or more in larger servers; ECC memory where available; SSD/NVMe storage. GPUs with 16 GB or more memory are especially useful, but lower-memory devices and older systems can be valuable for compatibility testing, distributed experiments or specialised hardware research.
Scientific instruments
Capability, calibration or service history, interface availability and condition usually matter more than age.
Field systems
We also weigh power consumption, environmental protection, connectivity and serviceability.
Quantity
One item, several matched units or a larger lot. What we can use depends on the equipment, its research application, available facilities and the total cost of deployment. A list of what is on offer is welcome even before exact specifications are known.
Offering equipment
Tell us what you have
Individuals, businesses, manufacturers, engineering firms, laboratories and schools are all welcome. Send a short description to contact@ontologicalmathematics.org with whatever of the following you know; a rough list is a fine place to start.

Manufacturer, model or part number, and approximate quantity.
- 2
Configuration
Processor, memory, storage, accelerator, voltage, measurement range, interfaces or other relevant specifications.
- 3
Condition
Operational, untested, incomplete, in need of repair or for parts; any known limitations.
- 4
Supporting materials
Photos, accessories, manuals, cables, calibration records, and any licence or transfer restrictions.
- 5
Location & logistics
General pickup or shipping location, approximate size or weight, and whether local collection is possible.
- 6
Type of support
Donation, research loan, discounted sale, equipment referral, facility access or technical collaboration.
Stewardship
How an equipment offer is reviewed
A valuable gift is equipment the Institute can safely and economically use for a scientific purpose. We review every offer for scientific usefulness, safety, legal transferability, compatibility, maintenance burden and total operating cost, and we may decline a gift that would cost more than the capacity it adds. Please do not ship or deliver anything until we have accepted the offer and coordinated logistics: an offer received is not yet a gift accepted.
Storage media in computers and data-bearing equipment may be removed before transfer; any media retained is handled under an agreed data-sanitisation procedure. Electrical, battery, laser, chemical, biological, medical, cryogenic or otherwise hazardous equipment is reviewed case by case, and we cannot accept hazardous waste or equipment that cannot be safely and responsibly managed.
- 1Offer
- 2Technical fit
- 3Safety & cost
- 4Acceptance
- 5Receipt & inventory
- 6Deployed, with outcome reported
Our aim is to put equipment that might otherwise sit idle, be dismantled or enter the waste stream to work: as sound experiments, verifiable results, and research others can build on.
Nothing on this page is tax advice; a donor’s own adviser should confirm how a particular gift is treated. Acknowledgments describe donated property; they do not value it.
